Bank Indonesia Institute-PRBI Conducts JCLI Visits to the Netherlands: Promoting Collaboration and International Recognition

From November 19-22, 2024, Bank Indonesia Institute-PRBI organized the JCLI Visits to the Netherlands, focusing on promotion, collaboration, and participation in international conferences. The visit aimed to enhance the visibility of the Journal of Central Banking Law and Institutions (JCLI), advance plans for the PhD Colloquium, and explore partnerships to strengthen JCLI’s citation impact and ecosystem. The delegation was led by Ms. Cicilia A. Harun, accompanied by the Managing Editors Team of JCLI, Dr. Arie Afriansyah and Dr. R. Dwi Tjahja K. Wardhono.

Academic Engagements with Groningen University

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the delegation visited the Faculty of Law at Groningen University, where they engaged in fruitful discussions with notable academics, including Prof. Mathijs ten Wolde (a member of JCLI’s Advisory Board of Experts), Thom Luyckx, Assoc. Prof. Kirsten Henckels, and Assoc. Prof. Martin. The meeting provided valuable insights and recommendations for the further development of JCLI.

Strengthening Collaboration with The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS)

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the delegation met with esteemed academics from THUAS’s Faculty of Law, including Prof. Martijn van der Linden, Dr. Michail Vagias, Dr. David Nederlof, Dr. Aleksandra Asscheman, and Jerke Verschoor. The meeting highlighted JCLI’s rapid growth and its trajectory toward SCOPUS indexing. THUAS representatives shared their plans for collaboration with JCLI, including hosting joint conferences and training sessions to support the production of high-quality academic publications.

Participation in the ILSEA Conference

The ILSEA Conference commenced on Thursday, December 21, 2024, with a keynote address by Prof. Raul Pangalangan, former Judge of the International Criminal Court. This was followed by a distinguished panel featuring the Ambassadors of Thailand and the Philippines to the Netherlands, alongside the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

On the second day, JCLI Managing Editors Team, Dr. Dwi Tjahja K. Wardhono and Dr. Arie Afriansyah, presented their research in a specialized panel titled “CBDCs, Crypto, and Southeast Asia.” This session attracted a diverse audience, including representatives from Indonesia (BINS and the University of Indonesia), the Philippines (Bank of the Philippines), the European Central Bank, and the Netherlands, with approximately 120 participants attending both in person and online.
