Plagiarism and Prior Publication Policy

Journal of Central Banking Law and Institutions (JCLI) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against plagiarism and any publication malpractices. To ensure this, we have established a rigorous policy concerning plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and prior publication, based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines.

Prior Publication Policy

We welcome submissions from authors and consider them for publication, provided the work has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere. However, JCLI does not regard the following as prior publication:

  • Publication in abstract form
  • Publication as an academic thesis or dissertation
  • Publication as an electronic preprint

Plagiarism Policy

In publishing only original research, JCLI is committed to deterring plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Authors must ensure that they have written entirely original works. If authors have used the work and/or words of others, it must be appropriately cited or quoted to reflect its original source. Manuscript acknowledgment of the work of others is required, and authors must cite publications that have led to the current research. Manuscripts found with plagiarism problems are automatically rejected.

The JCLI strictly allows a maximum Similarity Index (SI) of 20%. Papers having an SI of more than 20% will be returned to the authors for further re-writing to bring the index to 20% or less.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not concurrently submit the same manuscript for publishing to other journals. It is also expected that the author(s) will not publish redundant manuscripts or manuscripts describing essentially the same research in several publishing venues after the initial manuscript has been accepted for publication. Simultaneous submission is considered unethical publishing behavior and is strictly unacceptable.

Plagiarism Detection Process

To maintain the integrity of the submissions, all manuscripts that meet the journal's expected standards are rigorously checked for 'similarity' using iThenticate software before being assigned to reviewers.

JCLI fully adopts and adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (C.O.P.E.) guidelines and their flowcharts to address instances of suspected plagiarism or misconduct.

This policy aims to uphold the ethical responsibilities of academic publishing and the high-quality standards of articles published in the Journal of Central Banking Law and Institutions (JCLI). We appreciate the understanding and compliance of all our contributing authors.
